WEEKLY NEWSLETTER: 26TH JUNE 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Despite the exceptionally warm temperatures this week, it has been wonderful to see the children continue to demonstrate such resilience, positivity and kindness. Across the school, they have supported one another, adapted well to the changes in routine and continued to embody our St Michael's values of love, respect, integrity and resilience. We know the early school closures have been appreciated by many families and hope they have provided opportunities to escape the heat, relax together and enjoy some extra family time. Thank you for your understanding and support as we have worked together to keep everyone safe and comfortable during the hottest days of the year.

Next week marks a very special milestone for our Year 6 pupils as they embark on their residential visit to PGL Dearne Valley. This exciting trip is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of their primary school journey together, creating memories that will stay with them for years to come. From challenging outdoor activities to evenings spent with friends, we know they are in for an unforgettable experience. To round off the week, the children will also enjoy a visit to Alton Towers on their journey home. We wish them the most incredible time and cannot wait to hear all about their adventures and see the many photographs.

Due to the extremely hot weather this week, we have not been able to hold our usual Collective Worship gatherings. However, we were delighted to come together on Monday morning for our End of Year Music Concert. It was a fantastic celebration of the many musical talents within our school, with children performing confidently and enthusiastically in front of their families and peers. We are incredibly proud of every performer who took to the stage - you should all be immensely proud of yourselves. A huge 'Thank You' to Mrs Stopp for her dedication with our young musicians! 

We are also delighted to share our class teacher arrangements for the next academic year. A great deal of thought, discussion and careful planning has gone into creating classes that will enable every child to continue to flourish both academically and personally. We know that moving into a new year group can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves, but over the coming weeks the children will have opportunities to meet their new teachers, visit their new classrooms and begin preparing for September. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated team of staff, and we know they are all looking forward to welcoming their new classes.

This week's special recognition goes to William S in Year 5. William is a wonderful ambassador for St Michael's and consistently brings enthusiasm, positivity and kindness to everything he does. Whether in the classroom, around the school or during Band Club, William approaches every opportunity with a smile and a willingness to encourage those around him. His infectious enthusiasm brightens the day of both children and adults alike. Thank you for being such a fantastic role model, William - we are very lucky to have you as part of our school family.

This week also saw our Student Leadership interviews take place. We were incredibly impressed by the sixteen exceptional applicants, who each demonstrated courage, confidence and maturity throughout the process. As part of their interviews, the children planned and delivered an activity for our Reception pupils before taking part in a formal interview with Mrs Farran and myself. Every single applicant should be immensely proud of the way they represented themselves, their families and our school. Congratulations to our newly appointed Head Boy, Matthew, Head Girl, Ivy, Deputy Head Boy Callum, and Deputy Head Girls Gustavo, Iya and Emmeline. We know you will all lead our school community with kindness, integrity and pride.

The forecast suggests much cooler temperatures next week, and we are all looking forward to returning to a more familiar school routine while continuing to enjoy the many exciting events planned for the remainder of the term.

As we head into the weekend, we hope the cooler weather provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy some time outdoors, catch up with family and friends, and recharge for another exciting week ahead. The partnership between home and school is something we value enormously, and together we continue to help our children flourish both academically and personally.
